Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!

I have been sent a few images lately which have been taken from a satellite over the tsunami effected areas. I will post one of them when I get home as I am at work and unable to do so here.

They are a good example of how beautiful nature can be. They are clear and striking in colour.
I am particularly fond of photos that have been taken in space as they are usually the clearest pictures that can be taken. No atmosphere to get in the way of the subject. The subject is usually the disturbance that the photo is being taken of.

I think you will all like this photo. However, we all have to remember that from this beauty there has been much devastation. Nearly 150,000 people have lost their lives and many more have lost their homes and families. In a way it is a loss of life in itself.

Those that have been left behind will have to deal with the massive amount of devastation and destruction of their lively hoods.

Australians and the Australian government alone, have donated over $80 million to the plight of the tsunami victims. Men, women and children now have the task of surviving through disease outbreaks and the disposal of all those which lost their lives in the disaster.

This event not only effects those who have been directly hit by the waves and those in the country's where the waves have hit, but everyone within the region.
Although America is not within the Asia Pacific region, they are one of the world's leading economies and have had a massive impact on the Asia- Pacific region. Therefore they hold a responsibility to the people of this region.
I am proud however, that our government is playing the key role in relief and continued funded relief for these poor people.

It is a great indication of our capabilities and I would imagine that it would have a positive impact on our relations with those in these directly effected areas.

Australians have always had a positive image in this region and one of the largest - if not the largest power in the region, therefore I see this as a great opportunity for us to lend a helping hand. And I believe that it is this event that has also shown Australians that we are an important country in the region. We have a very good economy that allows us continued support of these people and continued aid.

But enough of all of that. I don't think I need to go on and sell Australia to many...I think most of it is already sold to foreign investors anyhow!! hehehe.
