Well here I am out of the hibernation I have been in in the last few weeks to get work done. I have been really busy trying to get assessment done and with Acting, Gold and Silversmithing, and Sculpture all keeping me really busy -I have been negleting my duties in reporting to those who view the sight of what progress I am making!
So here I am to tell you how I am doing.
By the photos you will see that I have been really busy and I working hard. My proudest achievement this year so far will have to be the sculpture piece that I have done. This is the Chinese screen that is lit up in the pictures. I have made this out of Perspex and, despite what one of my lecturers first thought, it works really nicely and people were facinated with the effect. I must say that i am pretty happy with it! Hopefully I will get a few good marks out of thi one, But I will let you know.....
The other pieces that I have put up were for my Gold and Silvermithing assessment. I have made my firt ring. This is the first attempt at this type of thing so I am happy about achieving that, but with the over-all design I think it needs some reworking to make it work correctly and look better -but not bad for a first attempt.
The other piece which is a cuff, is also a first for me in the way that it has an alternate setting of a stone, as well as it is the first cuff that I have ever made. It is okay as well. Again, something that will need to have some more work done to it to refine the process, but when you talk to anyone who does G&S, they will tell you that when you think that something will be easy and only take you a couple of days, you can usually times that by 5 or 10 -depending on what you are doing. There is always something that will go the worng way from where you wanted it to go!! But there you have it!!.
So, other than that, I will be going to Thailand for a holiday in the next week which is really exciting and I am looking forward to it greatly....only thing is that i have to have all my assessment up to date for the event so there is not that much time to get a wriggle on!!
So if you don't here from me till I get back, don't panic!!! I will have lovely photos of Thailand to show you all and will have a lot of things to tell you about I am sure!!!
