Back to the grind....

At present I have attended three out of the four of my subjects for this term.....And I only know one person in my Playmaking course!!
Not that that really bothers me, but from the perspective of assessment, it does concern me.
Reason being is that i have to try and work with people that i have not worked with before and have no idea if they are hard working or willing to put the effort into work. I don't want to be the one who has to carry the fourth year students as they think that just turning up is worthy of a pass! That is another thing, all these people are out on prac and the like and i have not even considered doing that. This degree certainly seems odd in the way that it is set out. No one else that i know is having the same experience as me as they have all been there and done that and the ones who were meant to be doing the same as me are no longer doing this course!
It is a bit strange but I am not too put off with the way that it is worked out, it is juts that sometimes it is harder to relate to everyone that you are going to uni with as they are all experiencing different things to me from both degrees. The arts people are all just doing the one degree and don't understand the education and the education people have been doing the education degree longer and have no idea about the dual degree that I am doing - therefore they have no idea about anything that i talk about. Not to mention that most of the people that are doing the education degree seem to be doing Physical education.... Nice on the perve factor in some cases but mentally not a challenge. It's all about the latest footy scores and crap! Big deal people!!!
In any case, it is only the first week and I am sure that with the passing of the semester that I will get to know all these people and I will be able to relate more to them, even if that means that i will have to learn more humility and smile and nodd a lot. But then i suppose that this is not relating, it is just avoiding and to some degree withholding??

I have a question. This is one of the questions that has been placed to us for our first lecture in Philosophy and Values in education.
You are in a hall with 100 or so students, being held hostage by a terrorist. Although she is mad, you know that she always keeps her word. She says to you that she will let everyone go if you kill the child who's hand you are holding. If you do not she will kill everyone, including you and the child. Should you kill the child? What if the child was your own? What if the child had a terminal disease? What if the child was the terrorists? What if the number of people being held captive was greater, like 1000?
