Gold and Silver smithing
Critique today for gold and silver smithing. I think that it went well.
I spoke about what my piece was about and what I wanted to achieve and people said that they really liked the idea and the concept and they really liked the end result with the finished piece.
I think at first a lot of people were a bit stand-offish with the idea but were pleasantly surprised that it worked out and finally got the full concept of it.
I suppose that is understandable when you walk in with a car grill and table legs and people just stare at you and think that you have gone mad!!!
But I feel that the piece has been successful and there were a lot of nods from people as I mentioned the destruction that we do to our environment through the act of driving, and most people do not acknowledge this. I hoped that with my work they would think about the act of driving and this impact that we have on our immediate environment, thinking from another angle. Too much focus can be placed on the effect that fossil fuels have but a lot of people do not think at all about the act of driving and what effect this has on the environment.
I think now however that those people who have seen the pce will appreciate the point that I was trying to make and this then makes the pce successful.
I do not get the results until the holidays finish and so have to wait to hear what the actual markers of this pce of assessment think. I am hoping to get some 9's in there but I will just have to wait and see....
I believe that I will continue to do the gold and silversmithing and would like to try and set up a studio for it...Or at least incorporate the studio in the new studio that I will be setting up downstairs...It all costs money and I will have to do it slowly, but it will all be worth it in the end.
Well that is it for the moment.
I have drawing due on Thursday and have to finish off on a few other pieces before then so I hope you are all well and please drop a comment or two and let me know what you think about my gold and silver smithing pce...
