Interview.
I had the interview yesterday.
I got there at about 2:30pm and went straight in as there had been a mix up with another interviewee and there expected time for interview.
In other words the interviewee stuffed up and thought they were suppose to be there for one time when they should have been there for another......But you get that.
I thought that the interview would be with a few people but luckily it was just one on one.
We sat down and started off with showing my portfolio and some original works that I have done for the commission I have.
We spoke about where I want to be with my art, why I want to teach and why I want to do the courses that I have applied for. She asked if I just want to be an artist within the art community or something more. I immediately told her that I want to learn more about the "industry" regarding exhibitions and curating. She advised me that the courses I had chosen were the best for doing just that. - YAY!!
I mentioned my trip to China and the influences that has had on me since returning to Australia.
She said that she had also taken a journey to Japan to do the same thing and we sat there chatting about that for most of the time.
There was a score card that she was working by and was asking me questions from. Obviously there was no marking on the paper whilst I was there, shame though!!!
I felt positive about the interview but then she asked me if there was anything that I wanted to ask. BRICK WALL!!!!
I did not know what to say as I did not have any questions. I ended up saying at this current point in time I do not have any as I have been so focused on getting to this stage and getting primed for the interview that nothing comes to mind.
She said that that was fine and if I did just to email or call and they will be glad to help.
One positive was her mention of a task they will be setting all the students when they start, where they will have to go through the phone book and list all the galleries they can in Brisbane and critique them all . See what types of works they have in them. Are they a combination gallery/framing shop, etc.
She told me that it would be wise to do this over the next few weeks. That got me thinking that it could very well be possible that I will get in. However, who then went on to say that the offers don't come out until mid January and that's when I will find out.
I just hope that they wait until then so then I can see what offers come in from all the courses that I have chosen(if they do) and I can make the right decision.
Only time will tell!
