Okay, here we have the pieces that I have been working on for the last couple of weeks. These are cast pieces out of silver and bronze.

The smaller bronze wasp will go on the silver ring and the larger silver wasp is going with the bronze pendant.

It is all based around the native Australian paper wasp.

I have really enjoyed the process of casting and feel that it is definitely somewhere that I will persue further. I have already been thinking of different insects that I can explore that would be more suited to making them out of a wax mold, rather than trying to hand forge the metal.

I did my casting for the first timt on Friday last week and they have worked out pretty much the way I wanted them too. One was a bit of a lucky accident. I will have to take more photos of both the bronze and the silver pieces but here is what I have...
It doesn't look like much but that is silver!!
I had just cast it so it is still attached to the spru tree. I will explain the whole process later, I just wanted to post this so you know what I am up to!!

Time flies

It has been a while between blogs so I thought that I would update you so you know where I am up to in this semester...
Let's see...
I have a group presentation tomorrow, which should not be too difficult!
One Saturday I am doing a Philosophy exam and currently discussing the issue on the online forum that we have, which is also assessed, so doing the forum each week is a must!
Um, we have also started "blocking" the performance piece we are doing in playmaking and working out scripting for that, as well as trying to organise costumes etc!!
I am waiting for the kilns to be fixed at uni so we can then fire the investment plaster we have set out wax molds in to then melt out the wax and pour in some molten silver!!!!
Hopefully that will happen soon!! I still have to polish the pieces and make them work!! They are pretty exciting so you will get photos of that as soon as they are available!!
My computer crashed and I had to get it fixed. They placed everything into d drive but I lost all my pics from the Thailand holiday!!! A bit of a piss off, but I lost most of them in the transfer anyway when I got back due to memory card problems, so this is just the icing on the cake!!!
Apart from that, all is fine in the world and my stress levels are not that bad, but I can fly to Paris with the size of the bags under my eyes from late nights studying!!
So there you have it!!!

Exciting news!

Okay, time to let you all know my exciting news!
There are two parts to this so hold on.....
1st. I have been asked by Motorline BMW to paint a bonnet that they have in their spare parts devision, instead of them scrapping it! Once completed this will hang in their dealership for all to see!!
2nd. I entered a piece in the Memento Awards (see June blog for details) and I have been accepted as a finalist !! This means that i go to a breakfast on the morning of the 12th for the presentation and find out how far I get. It is also an exciting opportunity for me to network my piece and talents to potential buyers!!
So there you have it!!!
I will let you all know how well I go!!

OH, I have good news as well but I am not going to tell you all about it until I have all the details and can let you know the whole story!!!

Feeling a little eewww!!!

Well, one thing I have to say first is that i was wrong about the people in my class....well one of the Jocks anyway! He is actuall smart - not that i really doubted it - and made sense of an essay we had to read that no one else was able to!! So there you have that!!! That will teach me to pre-judge!! But it can be so much fun!

I am feeling as though I have a bit of the cold or something. I have not been sleeping well lately and I believe that with all the assessment and stuff that is coming up- hence STRESS- it is getting to me a little.
Also, my savings plan is a little off at the moment and that has me stressing out as I didn't want to have to try and catch up to the moths that i have missed and that is giving me the shits!! Just means that i will have to tighten the belt even further...maybe Thursday nights will have to be cut!! There goes the social life!!
Oh my, the life of a uni student who would like to go overseas every year!!! I know this is self induced, but if you have been overseas then you can understand what i am going through...I have an addiction!!!
Anywho, I am going to do all my readings now.......
