It has been a while since I have placed photos of my work up so I thought that I should show you all the piece that I have been working on since my holidays started. This is for the Momento Awards. This is an award organised by Tourism Australia and is designed to give tourists pieces that are original and Australian, as well as allow artists to get their work out there in the bigger markets.

My piece is designed around the Australian Emerald Dragonfly, which is a native species that covers most of Australia, apart from the Northern Territory - strangely enough!!

It is made out of silver and should retail for about $300 if I was to sell it myself, but I am not sure how much they will sell it for if they take it on......Some people may recognise this piece from the copper one that i have made, but I have finished this one better and the middle layer ( which is the one with the fillagry work on it) is a different design.

If they take it on then I will have to look at ways of mass producing it ....but that is now me getting too far ahead of myself. But, we will see what happens!

This one is the bowl that I made for the previous project before the holidays. The theme for this was ritual, so I made a rice bowl and chop sticks to go with them to represent the dinners that Alex and I have each week with our friends Justin and Michael at Yee Foongs in the Valley. The pattination on the surface was meant to turn out completely different from the way it has here, but the blue colour is a happy accident.....I will have to try and replicate this in some other works that i am going to do this holidays.

I have almost finished my entrant piece for the MOMENTO AWARDS.
I went into uni all day today to get it done as I would like to send it off to them tomorrow, and my god, what a day.
After dropping Alex off to work and returning to his place to then walk into uni, I got there only to discover that no one was there! So I decided to contact Hannah to see where she was and to make sure that she remembered that we had organised to meet thismorning, only on Friday. So I messaged her and got no reply............So I called her and left a message............Finally she calls me back only to advise me that she has found a place that will cast the rings that she is making for a commitment ceremony on Saturday, in Brisbane and that she needs to go out to Underwood of all places to give them the wax molds to cast the silver to. GREAT!
A little peturbed by the fact that I was only finding out about this while I was standing at uni but hey, anything that is going to stick it up good old Johnny's arse like two faggots getting "married" is enough of an excuse to calm my ever growing distain for the general populous which lead to disappoint me or have a lack of motivation in considering others.......I'm not bitter!!!
Once I had regained my slightly altered composure and placed it back into alignment, I decided to venture down into the bottom of the uni where G&S lives.......LUCK!!! Low and behold!! the door was open and one of the lecturers was there!! I asked if it was okay that I did some work and he uttered the golden word YES.
All the tension and anxiety that had been raging inside of me like a bull waiting for the gate to open subsided like a sea of raging hormones in a cartoon movie (only fans of Hercules will get that...and I know, it's ebbed - but hey- copyright). There was 106.1 FM playing and some lovely classical music filled the studio. I find that I work best to this music in no matter what scenario I am in. Anywho, I spread all my tools and crap all over the place and stated to work. I had it all planned and timed out to make sure that I got done what I had planned to accomplish, despite the set back of others!
WHALAH! Hey presto! I made my target, and the best part of the day was that there was no one there to disturb, distract, or annoy the shit out of me, and that was the best part of the day.
I had the best time that i have had in the G&S studio and that was because it was all mine!!!!! MMMIIIIINNNEEEEEEE!!!!! It made me realise how important it is to get my own studio up and happening, especially now that i will only be doing G&S and how obvious it is that I cannot rely on anyone else in that department to turn up, especially when you have previously arranged to meet them!! But that's okay, I'm not bitter!!!

My friend Brian in the USA took this photo a while ago....I kinda "borrowed" the image from him, but if I acknowledge the original photographer, I am sure he will not mind me using the image!
I was trying to post a funny comic strip that i was sent but for some reason I cannot enlarge it and you cannot read the strip at the size it is at. It is all a blur...so you will have to do with this instead!!
Isn't he just a sexy man!!! This is my baba!!! Such a wonderful man! Good looking, honest, loving!!! AHHHH!!! What more could you ask for!!!! : )

Semester Three Finished!

Yipppeeeee!!!!!
I have finished my 3rd semester of University and I feel that it went pretty well!
All I have to do now is wait for the results........

And as you can see I have found a new way of loading the pics into the text...so I can now actually type about the pic like so and not load it later!!
Anywho, It is freezing butt arse cold here and I am not happy about that! One good thing is that I bought Superman and Superman II yesterday so I have those to watch while the weather is so shitty and rainy!! Plus, I am on holidays and therefore don't need ot do much!!!
But one thing that I must do is now load Lizzy's photos or she will kill me!!!
Till next time!!!

Here is a still from the Battleship Potempkin flick. A little gross, but Alex and I watched Kill Bill and Kill Bill 2 the other night. I thought they were awsome, but Alex does not like violent films with any gore- so you can imagine his reaction to Kill Bill...... Posted by Picasa
Okay.
So I heard a rumour that some people are unable to view the pictures that i have put up of Thailand. Well...for the moment..Too Bad!!!
I have a 60% assignment that i am currently doing and that is more important. Mind you, I have been able to find some time to update you on the life which WAS mine! Not since this assignment has come along, have I had so much fun.
Seriously, there will be RSI!!! And not for a good reason either!!!
This is the only piece of assessment that I have left to complete, and it is due on Friday. I am not that stressed about it really, which is surprising, but not. After all, I am doing it on Francis Bacon.
He is after all, my favourite artist!
But enough of this frivolity, one must make a move to transfer images to the laptop so I can finally start typing this thing. God knows that will take me the next three days in itself!
Thank the lord I am not doing a PHD like Tarns!!!!
Sucker!!!
